PURPOSE: A method for authenticating a user in an online game and a server thereof are provided to improve the game utilization of users as preventing hacking. CONSTITUTION: A user authentication server (20) includes a first authentication unit (21) and a second authentication unit (22). The first authentication unit authenticates a primary valid user by determining whether the identification information or password of a user received from a user terminal is coincident with stored identification information or password. The second authentication unit secondarily authenticates whether the user is the valid user or not by comparing a stored vector type image with a vector type image for a user signature received from the user terminal or comparing a stored image with a user image received from the user terminal.
