A cutting insert (1) according to one embodiment of the present invention is provided with a lower surface (5), an upper surface (3), a side surface (7) that is connected respectively to the lower surface (5) and the upper surface (3), and an upper cutting blade (9) that is positioned at the line of intersection of the upper surface (3) and the side surface (7). The upper cutting blade (9) comprises a plurality of first concave sections (23) that are recessed toward the lower surface (5). The side surface (7) comprises a plurality of second concave sections that, when viewed from a planar perspective, are recessed more than the upper cutting blade (9) toward the center of the upper surface (9). At least one part of each of the plurality of second concave sections (25) is positioned below each first bottom section (23a) of the plurality of first concave sections (23). |
