PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop loosening of an adjustment screw by preventing the occurrence of backlash of a rack and a pinion and the change of rack sliding force.SOLUTION: In a method of fixing adjustment screw of a steering device having a rack guide 8, an elastic member 9 and an adjustment screw 10, a groove part 7d intersecting the thread is formed in the screw part 7a of a cylindrical part 7 of a housing. The method includes: a first step of screwing the adjustment screw 10 to the cylindrical part 7; a second step of carrying out caulking at a position being the axial direction side end surface of one of the adjustment screw 10 and the cylindrical part 7 and being different in the peripheral direction position from the groove part 7d to fill a gap between the screw part 10a and the screw part 7a of the adjustment screw 10; a third step of adjusting a pressing force for pressing a rack guide 8 to a rack 3; and a fourth step of carrying out caulking at a position being the axial direction side end surface of a remaining one of the adjustment screw 10 and the cylindrical part 7 and being different in the peripheral direction position from the groove part 7d to stop loosening of the adjustment screw 10. The first to forth steps are carried out in this order. |
