[Class 20 (iii).] A ship or other window comprises a paneless glass panel running in lined guides and having racks connected thereto near the edges adapted to be driven by pinions and worm gear 5, 7, Fig. 2. The racks may be secured by counter-sunk screws passing through non-corrosive back plates and fibre-lined holes in the glass and have integral or other feet engaging the lower edge or a channel thereon. Wedge devices 45, 47 are provided to press the panel against packing when closed by engaging the spindle 4 and a shaped bracket 50 on the top frame members. ' The frame is secured by a flange 20 and has a rib 22 by which the packing. 11 is retained, the front detachable member 31 of the frame having a similar rib 32 and an extension to cover the rack. The frame preferably has rounded corners 19 or rounded filing-pieces are fitted. The racks may be connected by a long bolt or by the web of the bottom channel of the glass panel. |
