PROCESS FOR MERCURY CONTROL DURING PRESSURE OXIDATION

A method for pressure oxidation of a precious metal-bearing sulfide material is disclosed. The method minimizes dissolution of mercury within a pressure oxidation process. The method comprises providing a slurried feed comprises a refractory sulfied-containing material, precious metal , sulfides and at least one halogen; and oxidizing the sulfide-containing metal in such a way that the dissolution of mercury from the sulfide-containing material is inhibited.
