The method for determining a space parameter characterizing a distance between an autogenous burner (1) and a workpiece (3), comprises detecting a property of the burner flame as space parameter, where an ionization of atoms within the burner flame is detected as property of the burner flame. The ionization of atoms within the burner flame is detected by detecting an electrical characteristic parameter at the burner and/or between the burner and the workpiece. The electrical characteristic parameter is an electrical voltage between the burner and the workpiece. The electrical characteristic parameter is one of the parameters of an electrical voltage between the burner and the workpiece, an electric current through the burner and an electrical resistance between the burner and the workpiece. The detection of the electrical characteristic parameter passively takes place without own electrical power supply. A distance regulation between the burner and the workpiece takes place depending of the space parameter. A flow measurement is carried out for determining the flow quantity of the gases flowing through one of the gas supply lines of the burner. A distance regulation between the burner and the workpiece takes place depending of the space parameter and/or the flow quantity. The distance between the burner and the workpiece is adjusted in the frame of the distance regulation, so that the temperature maximum of the burner flame lies in the area of the workpiece. Independent claims are included for: (1) an autogenous burner; and (2) a device for determining a space parameter.
|
