PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption during holding of a stepping motor.SOLUTION: In a motor control device 1, a pulse rate signal generation unit 23 of an output signal generation unit 11 outputs an excitation pulse to a motor driver 4 making a drive current according to the excitation pulse flow in coils of respective phases of a stepping motor STM, a current detector 5 detects the current flowing in the coils of the respective phases, a coil current comparison unit 13 calculates absolute values of the coil currents of the respective phases detected by the current detector 5 to compare the absolute values to determine an excitation state on the basis of the comparison result, and a pulse signal instruction unit 12 determines a motor state of the stepping motor STM such as a rotation state and a holding state, adjusts the output of the excitation pulse from the pulse rate signal generation unit 23 on the basis of the motor state and the determination result for the excitation state by the coil current comparison unit 13, and holds the stepping motor STM in a one phase excitation state. |
