PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change a process speed in entire image formation process into speed as necessary even in an inexpensive image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a control unit for controlling rotation speed of a photosensitive member, rotation speed of a rotating polygonal mirror, and the number of light-emitting elements for emitting light beam to form electrostatic latent image on the photosensitive member out of a plurality of light-emitting elements. When the control unit controls the rotation speed of the photosensitive member to Vp1, a control unit causes N light-emitting elements out of the plurality of light-emitting elements to emit the light beams and controls the rotation speed of the rotating polygonal mirror to Vr1 to form the electrostatic latent image, and when the control unit controls the rotation speed of the photosensitive member to Vp2 lower than Vp1, the control unit causes M (M<N) light-emitting elements out of the plurality of light-emitting elements to emit the light beams and controls the rotation speed of the rotating polygonal mirror to Vr2 different from Vr1 to form the electrostatic latent image. |
