PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition which maintains the respiratory function of the skin, activates the skin, and prevents the variation of a UV-A irradiation-induced mtDNA from being caused so as to maintain energy metabolism, energy flow and/or energy production in the skin of animals including human beings.SOLUTION: A composition comprises a compound which is selected from the group consisting of &bgr;-carotene, lutein, lycopene, &bgr;-cryptoxanthin, a mixture thereof, and a combination of any of the compounds and CoQ-10, the composition concerned being orally applicable. |
