PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adopt a hierarchical horizontal signal line connection structure consisting of plural stages and also improve the picture quality of images obtained by adding horizontal direction pixels in a horizontal signal line.SOLUTION: A plurality of inter-signal line switches 41 each connect between horizontal signal lines 32 at each stage except the uppermost stage and horizontal signal lines 31 at a stage one hierarchical level above the horizontal signal lines 32 at those stages. A signal supply unit correlates each of the horizontal signal lines 32 at the lowermost stage and a vertical signal line V each other, and supplies signals corresponding to the signals of each of the vertical signal lines V to the correlated horizontal signal lines at the lowermost stage. During a horizontal pixel adding readout mode, the signal supply unit correlates any of the sets of two or more vertical signal lines in which signals are added to the horizontal signal lines at the same lowermost stage, set by set. |
