In order to create a stereoscopic, moving image of a subject in real-time, a stereoscopic endoscope device (1) is provided with: a single objective lens (5) that forms an image by condensing the light from the subject; a beam splitter (13) for splitting the light condensed by the object lens (5); imaging elements (6, 7) that capture an optical image of the subject at the respective image forming positions of each beam of split light; focal position adjustment parts (11, 12) that impart a different optical path length to each beam of split light; a calculation unit (14) for calculating the object distance between the objective lens (5) and the respective positions of the subject from the 2D images acquired by the imaging elements (6, 7); and a parallax image creation unit (15) that, using the calculated object distance, creates a plurality of viewpoint images in which the subject is observed from a plurality of viewpoints. |
