The drive (6) has a tension ring (9) and a fixed component i.e. coupler cover (10), movable relative to each other in an axial direction (11) and in a tangential direction (12). A position spring (13) is arranged at the tension ring or the fixed component in the tangential direction in a length-variable manner. A connection unit (14) is movable in the axial direction and fixed with the fixed component or the tension ring. The connection unit is connected to the position spring and is resiliently or plastically deformable, where the position spring is formed as a tension spring. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a friction clutch for a motor car (2) a method for assembling a tension ring drive.
