PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device of an electromagnetic induction heating system that suppresses excessive temperature rise in a non-paper feeding area of a heat generating member in an efficient and reliable manner even when small-size sheets are continuously fed, and suppresses a variation in the heating amount of the heat generating member that is heated by an excitation coil; and an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: The fixing device includes: a heat generating member 20 that has a heat generating layer 21; an excitation coil 25 that generates a magnetic flux to heat the heat generating layer 21 by induction; and a demagnetization coil 26 in which an induction current flows by the magnetic flux generated by the excitation coil 25, and generates a magnetic flux in a direction to demagnetize the above magnetic flux in a part in a width direction. The demagnetization coil 26 is not electrically connected with a power source unit 70 that supplies an alternate current to the excitation coil 25. |
