A modular multiplier, given in the present invention, includes a first register which stores the previous accumulation value calculated in the previous cycle; a second register which stores the previous quotient calculated in the previous cycle; a quotient generator which generates a quotient to be used in the next cycle using the previous accumulation value from the first register; and an accumulator which receives a multiplicand, a modulus, the bit value of a multiplier, the previous accumulation value, and the previous quotient and calculates a new accumulation value. The calculated accumulation value is updated into the first register, and the generated quotient is updated into the second register.
