[Class 66.] A n appliance for cutting the covers out of tins comprises a supporting shield 1 having a part 3 engaging over the rim 5 of the tin and provided with a traction wheel operable by a handle 9 and adapted to roll along the underside of the rim, the cutter consisting of a separate tongue-like part 4 formed with a blunt support 6 and a cutting edge 7 inserted between the rim and the turned-over part of the shield as shown, the shield, on the handle being turned, sliding along the cutter, depressing it and causing the point 11 to pierce the cover, until the advanced edge engages under the hook-like part 12 when shield and cutter become locked and move together around the rim to cut out the cover. |
