The present invention relates to a separator for a fuel cell which prevents the overcompression and stress concentration phenomena of a gas diffusion layer in the stack structure assembly of a fuel cell by composing a plurality of ribs for forming gas paths in contact with the gas diffusion layer, into a main rib part and a subordinate rib part having tips with different heights; accordingly improves the durability of a fuel cell by preventing the damage of a electrolyte membrane induced by the compression of the gas diffusion layer; can maintain the diffusion and reaction of reaction gas to be excellent by reducing the compressibility of the gas diffusion layer and compensating for the phenomenon of lowering gas transmissivity of the gas diffusion layer; and can stably maintain the performance of a fuel cell by facilitating the transmission and discharge of water generated in a catalytic layer through the gas diffusion layer.
