The present invention relates to a backlight unit for a liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof, capable of preventing a hot spot by firstly injecting an incident part of a light guide plate and secondly injecting a light guide part of the light guide plate after printing a light shielding pattern on the rear of the incident part on which the hot spot is generated. The backlight unit for the liquid crystal display device includes: a plurality of light emitting diode arrays which are regularly formed on the lower side of one side of a liquid crystal panel and supply light to the liquid crystal panel; the light guide plate which is installed in the light emission direction of the LED array and includes the incident part to which light is inputted from the LED array and the light guide part which emits the incident light to the top by guiding the incident light; a plurality of light shielding patterns which are formed on the rear side of the incident part of the light guide plate which faces a boundary region between the LED arrays; a reflective plate which is arranged on the lower side of the light guide plate; and a plurality of optical sheets which are arranged on the upper side of the light guide plate.
