Disclosed are an electrode for a surface mounted electric double layer capacitor and a method of manufacturing the same. The electrode of the present invention is made up of an electrode (20) completed by cutting a mixture (H) prepared by kneading a dry and mixed active material, conductive material, and a binder together with a solvent and a softening agent; and polymer molten material (80) coating along an edge portion of the electrode (20). The present invention can make a process of manufacturing the electrode (20) simplified, prevent dust of activated carbon from scattering at a workplace, and more particularly, improve dimensional stability of the electrode (20) by coating with the polymer molten material (80), and make it easy to equalize density of the electrode (20), thereby highly improving performance uniformity after a product is manufactured. Furthermore, according to the present invention, form sustainability of the electrode (20) is improved, whereby the electrode is not broken during the process and the form sustainability is kept even when the electrode is impregnated in an electrolyte or a charge-discharge process is repeated after a product is manufactured, thereby preventing the performance of the product from varying even when the product is used for a long time.
