PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of correctly determining the presence/absence of a highlight portion even in the case of a subject photographed against a light background.SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises: image acquisition means 1 for acquiring an image; image division means 2 for dividing the image into a first region with a luminance not lower than a threshold and a second region with a luminance lower than that of the first region; highlight detection means 3 for detecting the first region surrounded by the second region, as a highlight portion; and texture improvement processing control means 4 for controlling the operation of predetermined texture improvement processing on the image, in accordance with a detection result obtained by the highlight detection means 3. |
