The band has a carrier band (14) wound around a high voltage conductor. Partially-conductive particles are inserted in the carrier band. A particle size distribution, a particle material and/or a particle concentration of the partially-conductive particles in the carrier band vary in a potential degradation direction (21) such that an electrical resistance of the band continuously decreases in the direction. An extension of the carrier band in the direction is designed large such that an electric potential is degraded without formation of partial discharges. The carrier band is an electrically non-conductive fabric or non-woven fabric. The band is impregnated with artificial resin. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an end glow protection band.
