PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a reading operation of documents and an image forming operation on a recording material in parallel to improve productivity with a simple configuration.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a first conveyance path that conveys a recording material for forming an image on the recording material; image forming means for forming an image on the recording material conveyed on the first conveyance path; a common conveyance path 80 that switches a conveyance direction of the recording material that is conveyed on the first conveyance path and has an image formed by the image forming means thereon, to convey the recording material; a switchback flapper 82 that switches, when detecting a document conveyed on the common conveyance path 80, a conveyance path of the document to convey the document to a document dedicated conveyance path 81; a document reading unit 100 that reads an image of the document conveyed on the common conveyance path 80 and the document dedicated conveyance path 81; and a CPU 801 that controls reading of the image of the document by the document reading unit 100 and image formation on the recording material by the image forming means to be performed in parallel. |
