PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus and an inkjet recording method that can record a high-precision image by suppressing the effect of an air current between recording element rows adjacent to each other in a multi-pass recording method.SOLUTION: A second selector 53 and a third selector 54 select either one of a first mask control part 52 and a second mask control part 55 according to the type of an ink discharged from a recording element row and the type of an ink discharged from a recording element row adjacent to the recording element row. Each of the first mask control part 52 and the second mask control part 55 thins out recording data by using a different mask pattern.
