[Classes 66 and 125 (iii).] A jam jar or like container has a one-piece sheet. metal closure comprising a disc secured to the container by integral tongues depending from the periphery of the disc and engaging under a shoulder on the container and the under surface of the disc or the top surface of the rim of the container or both are formed with projections which space the disc from the rim of the container to allow access of air to the contents while excluding dust &c. As shown, the disc 2 is formed with a flange 3 from which the securing tongues depend and the projections 5 are formed by radial depressions in the upper surface of the disc while vertical projections 7 in the flange 3 space the latter from the rim 6 to allow the air access to the space under the disc ; vertical projections may be formed on the rim of the container in place of, or in addition to, the projections 7. |
