[Class 135] A valve unit for an acetylene generator comprises a pressure-regulating valve 6, a safety valve 19 and a check valve 30 disposed in a casing having a chamber 4 which forms a common inlet for the pressure regulating and the safety valves, and which communicates through the valve 6 with a second chamber 2 which serves as the outlet and inlet of the pressure regulating and the check valves respectively. The valve 6 is carried by a pivoted lever 8 contacted by a stud 10 carried by a spring-loaded membrane 11. The opening of the valve 6 may be regulated by hand operation of a control knob 15 mounted on a spindle 16 whose ball-end restricts the movement of the lever. The safety valve 19 comprises an annular closure member secured to a membrane 20 which moves away from a seating 18 against a spring 21 when the pressure in the chamber 4 reaches a predetermined value. The check valve comprises an apertured membrane which moves against a light spring 31 away from a seating 37 to permit the flow of the gas to the power device. Pressure gauges 41, 42 may be fitted on the inlet and outlet sides of the pressure-regulating valve. Specification 605,569 is referred to. |
