A propulsion device for a ship and a ship having the same are disclosed. The propulsion device for the ship according to the embodiments of the present invention comprises a rotary shaft; a rear propeller fixed to the rotary shaft; a front propeller which is supported to the rotary shaft in front of the rear propeller to be rotated; a counter rotating device which is installed on the rear of a hull and reverses the rotation of the rotary shaft to transfer the reversed rotation to the front propeller; and a coupling device which detachably connects the rotary shaft and the counter rotating device to each other.
