<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for commercially advantageously preparing a β,β-bishetero-substituted optically active alcohol from the corresponding α,α-bishetero-substituted carbonyl compound by using an easily available ruthenium compound as an asymmetric hydrogenation catalyst and hydrogen. <P>SOLUTION: The method for preparing a β,β-bishetero-substituted optically active alcohol (III) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>is an aryl group or the like; R<SP>21</SP>and R<SP>22</SP>are each a 1-20C alkyl group or the like; and X<SP>1</SP>and X<SP>2</SP>are each oxygen or the like) comprises bringing a carbonyl compound (I) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>21</SP>, R<SP>22</SP>, X<SP>1</SP>, and X<SP>2</SP>are the same as defined above) into contact with hydrogen in the presence of a ruthenium compound (II) (wherein Y is an anionic ligand; Px is a phosphine ligand; and A is a diamine ligand) and a base. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
