In a continual process to manufacture a confectionary product from a semi-solid substance, a mass (5) of the substance is pressed to form an elongated hank (7) that is released onto a first conveyer belt (8) and advances via the belt end (20) towards a guillotine (32) and cut transversely into portions (34). Each section is then pressed into its final shape. - The food is embossed to shape from both above and below by rollers. Also claimed is a suitable assembly.
