<p>A mobile communications device having an internal planar inverted F (PIFA) antenna (10). The radiating patch (12) of the antenna (10) has defined therein at least two slots (16,18) each having two or more sections (40,42 and 50,52,54,56). The at least two slots may include an L-shaped slot (16) and a C-shaped slot (18), wherein the slots can be open or closed. The L-shaped slot (16) may be an open-slot projecting into the patch antenna (10) from the edge (20). Ground (32) and signal (30) connections may be at the edge (20) of the patch on either side of the L-shaped slot (16). The C-shaped slot (18) may be nested within the L-shaped slot (16). The antenna provides multiple bands and due to adjacent resonances in one single band the bandwidth is broadened.</p> |
