The method of producing hydrocyanic acid by catalytic dehydration of gaseous formamide involves carrying out catalytic dehydration in one reaction channel of a tubular reactor which is made of multiple parallel layers A and B lying one over the other. Each layer is a plate which is structured by the channels. Layer A is structured by multiple parallel reaction channels with average hydraulic diameter from more than 1 mm to 3 mm, and layer B is structured by multiple parallel channels with average hydraulic diameter of less than 4 mm for transmitting heat carrier.
