PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a game system and a control method thereof which allow a user to appropriately use a comment function on a game device according to a state of a game.SOLUTION: A game system including a game device that allows a user to play a game, includes a comment processing unit which allows a user playing the game to use a predetermined comment function which includes display of a comment transmitted to the user from another user. Whether the game state in the game device satisfies a predetermined constraint condition is determined. If it is determined that the constraint condition is satisfied, processing is executed to generate a predetermined constraint on the comment function (S414).
