PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To radio relay a portion of transmission paths of a bus-type network that returns a response within a predetermined time, with reduced occurrence of a retry and suppressed change cost on an existing node.SOLUTION: A communication system includes a first terminal connected to a bus-type network, a second terminal connected to another bus-type network, and a relay device for relaying communication between the first terminal and the second terminal. The first terminal includes: a dummy data addition unit for adding dummy data to data to be transmitted and a dummy data addition control unit for controlling the dummy data addition unit to add dummy data to the data to be transmitted through the relay device. The second terminal includes a response unit for responding within a predetermined time after receiving the data from the first terminal. The relay device includes a dummy data removal unit for removing the dummy data included in the data transmitted from the first terminal to the second terminal and relay the data.
