The detector (2) has a detector layer (10) formed as a multi pixel detector layer in a type of a shadow mask for arranging a set of sensor pixels and X-ray radiation-transmissive transparent pixels in a regular sequence. Another detector layer (16) is designed as a multi pixel detector layer in a layer sequence direction (12) at spacing to the former detector layer and formed from the sensor pixels and another set of sensor pixels. The former set of sensor pixels of the former detector layer and the transparent pixels are arranged according to type of a chessboard pattern. An independent claim is also included for a method for detection of X-ray radiation.
