PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film capable of providing a polarizing plate, to which a retardation and surface scratch resistance can be imparted and which satisfies demands for a thinner film, avoids reflection of an image, shows superior denseness of black, and has no problem of adhesion even when the film is wound into a long-length roll, and to provide a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display device using the optical film having above characteristics.SOLUTION: An optical film includes an optical anisotropic layer formed of a curable resin composition on an outermost surface on one surface of a transparent support, and a hard coat layer and a low refractive index layer having a refractive index of 1.20 to 1.45 and an average film thickness of 50 to 120 nm on the other surface, in an order of the transparent support, the hard coat layer and the low refractive index layer. The low refractive index layer contains: inorganic fine particles A having an average particle diameter of 30 nm or more and 65 nm or less; inorganic fine particles B having an average particle diameter larger than 65 nm and 130 nm or less; and a binder. The content of the inorganic fine particles B is 1.5 to 15 mass% with respect to the total solid content of the low refractive index layer. The surface of the optical film on the side having the low refractive index layer has an arithmetic average roughness Ra, based on JIS B0601-2001, of 0.030 μm or less. |
