PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective film that has a hard coat layer only on one side of a film substrate, and is capable of adding decorations suitably by heat transfer printing and silk printing.SOLUTION: A protective film for decoration used for an image display window of an image display device has a hard coat layer on one surface of a film substrate; and the surface of the other side of the surface having the hard coat layer of the film substrate has a water contact angle of 70 degrees or less. With such a configuration, a protective film for decoration can be obtained that has excellent printability either in a heat transfer printing method and a silk printing method.
