摘要 PURPOSE: An electric steering device and a control method thereof are provided to improve the driving performance of a vehicle by minimizing the damage generated by the steering sense due to the difference of the left and right loads. CONSTITUTION: An electric steering device(1) comprises a driving motor unit(10), a left and right load sensor(20), a front seat passenger load sensor(30), and a control unit(40). The driving motor unit drives a rack and a vehicle wheel by corresponding to the steering of a steering wheel. The left and right load sensor individually senses the loads of the left and right of a vehicle and transmits the loads to a control unit. The front seat passenger load sensor senses the passenger on a front seat and notifies the control unit. The control unit comprises a vehicle speed variable control module(42), a damping control module(44), a restoration control module(46), and a driving module(48). The vehicle speed variable control module comprises a basic current map(422) in order to calculate a motor current controlling the driving motor unit on each vehicle speed. The damping control module comprises a damping current map in order to calculate a damping current to compensate for the damping of the driving motor unit. The restoration control module comprises a restoration current map in order to calculate a restoration current to restore control of the driving motor unit. The driving module generates a driving current in order to drive the driving motor unit.
