The system has optical test patterns (41-43) arranged in order to be placed, temporarily, in field of cameras (1-3). An image processing unit (10) verifies whether a camera functions and/or estimates performances of each of the cameras from an image issued from the camera. The processing unit verifies and/or estimates the performances of the camera from digital information associated with pixels of the image from the camera, positioning characteristics of the test pattern and of the camera, geometrical and photometric characteristics of the pattern and technical features of the camera.
