The device (1) has a supply line (2) connected to a source of clean water such as drinking water, and an inlet valve (4) connected to the supply line for passage of the clean water into the supply line. A discharge pipe (6) is connected to a waste water network. An overflow duct (8) including an upstream end placed on the surface of the water in an aquarium tank (51), and a downstream end connected to the discharge pipe. A cleaning pipe includes an upstream end connected to the supply line, and a downstream end connected to the discharge pipe, where an electronic unit controls the inlet valve. An independent claim is also included for a method for introducing clean water into a tank of an aquarium.
