The device has an acquisition unit (11) for acquiring an effective speed of a vehicle. Another acquisition unit (15) acquires authorized maximum speed. A display control unit (18) is associated with the former acquisition unit and the latter acquisition unit. A display unit (7) displays instructions associated with the control unit. The display unit comprises a set of visual transmitters or diodes (20) located in peripheral vision of a driver of the vehicle. A fixing point is arranged in a field of vision of an axis or road on which the vehicle moves. An independent claim is also included for a method for providing assistance to management of speed of a vehicle.
