PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water application device capable of surely sucking up water in a water storage container and applying an optimal amount of water to a remoistening paste portion.SOLUTION: In a water application device 70 for applying water 75 to a remoistening paste portion 8 by means of a water application means while conveying paper 1 with the remoistening paste portion 8 pre-pasted at a predetermined adhesion position thereon, the water application means includes: a water storage container 74 with the water 75 stored therein; and a water application pad 76 in which a first pad member 76A at least placed at a position to be immersed in the water storage container 74 and including pores with a pore diameter D1 formed to be small for sucking up the water 75 in the water storage container 74, and a second pad member 76B at least placed at a position to oppose the remoistening paste portion 8 and including pores with a pore diameter D2 formed to be larger than the pore diameter D1 of the pores in the first pad member 76A for applying the water 75 to the remoistening paste portion 8 are placed in contact with each other. |
