The device i.e. turbo supercharger (10), has a suction passage (12), over which supply air is supplied to a compressor wheel (14) of the device. A changing unit changes flow through cross-section of the suction passage. A movable element comprises sides (20) facing toward a central axis (M) of the suction passage. The sides are spaced at a distance from the central axis in a position of the movable element than in another position of the movable element. The flow through cross-section of the suction passage in the movable element is reduced. An independent claim is also included for a method for compacting supply air for an internal combustion engine of a vehicle.
