A stack includes a seed layer structure including a first part with a first cross-track width and a free layer with a second cross-track width deposited on the seed layer structure. The first cross-track width is bigger than the second cross-track width. For implementation, the seed layer structure includes an antiferromag-netism (AFM) layer and a synthetic antiferromag-netism (SAF) layer. For alternative implementation, a cross-track width of the seed structure is actually the same as the combination of the cross-track width of the free layer with cross-track widths of two permanent magnets.
