PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode with sufficiently high discharge capacity even at high rate, and a lithium ion secondary battery.SOLUTION: In a negative electrode including a negative electrode active material mainly containing silicon and silicon oxide, a negative electrode, in which a ratio of the film thickness of a negative electrode active material layer to the particle size distribution D99 of the negative electrode active material is in the range of 1.2-2.0, the value of the D99 is in the range of 7-27 μm, and a density of the negative electrode active material layer is in the range of 1.2-1.6 g/cm, is used. |
