PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel capable of forming an encoder system into a unit with a few configurations, thereby facilitating system check, and further reducing its size in a radial direction, and to provide an assembling method thereof.SOLUTION: A lens barrel comprises: a fixed cylinder; a focus mechanism that focuses by changing its position on an optical axis of a focus lens in cooperation with the fixed cylinder; a focus operation ring that operates the focus mechanism by a rotating operation by a user; and a holding cylinder fixed to the fixed cylinder. The lens barrel comprises: a focus connection ring having a mounting part for fixing an encoder brush, rotated integrally with the focus operation ring, and supported by the holding cylinder so as to freely rotate; and an encoder base adjacent to the inner peripheral side of the focus connection ring, having an arcuate face for bonding a focus encoder flexible portion thereto, and fixed to the holding cylinder. The focus connection ring and the encoder base are located radially outside the fixed cylinder. |
