The invention relates to a sensor (10) for determining at least one property of a gas to be measured in a chamber for the gas to be measured, in particular the temperature or the concentration of a gas component, in particular in the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, and to a method for producing said sensor. The sensor (10) has a sensor housing (18) which has a depression (32) in a gas-side end portion (28); a sensor element (12), a gas-side sensor portion (14) of which protrudes out of the depression (32) of the sensor housing (18) in a parallel manner relative to a longitudinal axis (16) of the sensor (10), said portion being exposed to the gas to be measured; and a double protective tube (20) which surrounds the sensor portion (14). The double protective tube (20) comprises at least one outer protective tube (22) and at least one inner protective tube (24). The outer protective tube (22) has a housing-side end portion (30) and a gas-side end portion (31). The inner protective tube (24) has a housing-side end portion (26) and a gas-side end portion (27). The housing-side end portion (30) of the outer protective tube (22) and the housing-side end portion (26) of the inner protective tube (24) are fixed to the gas-side end portion (28) of the sensor housing (18) by means of a welding (34). The central line (38) of the welding (34) is inclined towards a plane (36) which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (16) and away from the gas-side end portion (28) of the sensor housing (18).
