PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polishing device and a polishing method, allowing the surface of an endless belt to be polished such that the endless belt has an improved surface accuracy and thickness accuracy.SOLUTION: A polishing device 10 for polishing the surface of an endless belt B includes a polishing tape 11 for polishing the surface of the belt B, a pair of guide rollers 12 and 13 for guiding the polishing tape 11, and a work roller 14 for winding the belt B. The polishing device 10 allows a constant tension to be imparted to the polishing tape 11 and the belt B. The common tangent line of the guide rollers 12 and 13 is arranged at a position where the peripheral surface of the work roller 14 around which the belt B for polishing is wound is overlapped. The surface region of the belt B along the peripheral surface of the work roller 14 is polished with the polishing tape 11. |
