<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production accelerator for a gas clathrate for shifting a production condition for the clathrate to a higher temperature side and a lower pressure side without substantially reducing an amount of gas to be clathrated, and to provide a method for producing the gas clathrate using the production accelerator. <P>SOLUTION: The gas clathrate production accelerator comprises a non-ionic surfactant, an anionic surfactant, a cationic surfactant or an amphoteric surfactant.
