PURPOSE: A VOD recommendation system in a digital cable TV service and a method thereof are provided to automatically recommend the VOD of interest in the area by considering the service frequency of VODs pumped from a VOD streaming server in the location of a user and the genre of the favorite channel of the user and recommending VODs. CONSTITUTION: A VOD usage information analysis unit (112) classifies favorite channels collected by a channel information collector (114) with a genre code and replaces preset location with location information collected from a location information collector (111). The analysis unit analyzes the usage information of the relevant area using the service frequency by VODs transmitted from a VOD streaming server (300) and makes the genre code correspond to the genre information of each VOD. A VOD of interest recommendation unit (117) extracts and provides the list of VODs corresponding to the genre code using the VOD usage information of the relevant area.
