The invention relates to a seat suitable for patients that have to maintain a face-down rest position, for example patients that have undergone vitrectomy, which seat allows the patient to maintain this face-down rest position for long periods without causing cramping, as well as allowing the patient to look at objects such as a book or objects positioned facing the seat. The invention has also been specially designed to allow patients to look at objects, such as a television, which are located and oriented so as to be seen while seated on a seat. The seat is also suitable for post-operative patients that have to maintain a position similar to the post-vitrectomy position for a long period of time, as is the case, for example, after certain back surgeries.
