In a shift lever apparatus (10), a tilting shaft (58) is held between the peripheral surface of a lower support opening (20) of a shift lever plate (12) and the peripheral surface of an upper support opening (38A) of a shift lever guide (26), so that a shift lever (52) is supported tiltably about the tilting shaft (58). As the shift lever (52) is tilted while being guided in a guide opening (30) of the shift lever guide (26) and passed through a passing opening (64) of a cover (62), the shift position of the shift lever (52) is changed. The shift lever guide (26) has higher strength than the cover (62). Further, when a load is applied from the shift lever (52) to the shift lever guide (26), the rotation of the shift lever guide (26) is locked by the shift lever plate (12). Thus, the shift lever (52) can be appropriately and tiltably supported. |
