PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for immobilizing COcapable of immobilizing plant-derived COas carbonized matter facilitating storage thereof.SOLUTION: A method for immobilizing COcomprises carbonizing vegetative matter 90 to be carbonized by carbonizing at a predetermined carbonization temperature to immobilize COas carbonized matter 91 and generate a dry distilled gas 92 using a rotary kiln type carbonization furnace 2. With this method for immobilizing CO, carbonized matter 91 and a dry distillation gas 92 are obtained from the vegetative matter 90 to be carbonized. Consequently, COcan be immobilized as the carbonized matter 91.
